Geologists from the "Martian Volcano Observatory" explore a lava tube on the slope of the Hecates Tholus volcano. As often happens, a section of the roof has collapsed, leaving an easy access for the explorers. The glassy orange veneer coating the tube has shattered into pieces exposing the darker colored rock beneath. A scientist emerges from the cave-like interior of the tube, where dripping lava solidified into stalactitic forms.
